GrandCentral

The Web

Have you all heard of GrandCentral?  Working for the phone company I feel a little dirty posting this but man this is pretty cool!  GrandCentral  (now owned by Google) gives you a new phone number which can be forwarded to any other phone number you have.

Wow.. that doesn't sound as cool as it is.  Think of it this way.  You sign up for a GrandCentral account and get a new phone number.  During the set up process it asks you what your other phone numbers are; home, work and cell.  When someone calls your GrandCentral number it can ring ALL of your existing number (home, work and cell). So no matter where you are at you never miss a call.

This new number could be your number for life almost, not matter if you move, get a new job or change your cell phone number people only have to remember that one GrandCentral number.

There are some neat features too when you answer a call to your GrandCentral number too.  When you pick up it tells you who is calling (the other party is asked for his or her name).  Once you hear who is calling you have 4 options.

1) Accept Call
2) Push Call to Voicemail
3) Push Call to Voicemail and Listen (you can listen to the message as they leave it)
4) Accept call and record!  (You can record a call)

One of the many cool features on the web site gives you access to all you voicemails.  You can even download them and email them to other people. You can also change your inbound ring tone.  So people don't have to listing to Ring Ring, they can listen to any .mp3 file you upload!  There are also some other cool features of the site that I won't continue to ramble on.

This seems like a really cool service that the phone companies should have.  I can see this being a main feature component to the upcoming cell phone operating system from Google.

Good Day!
