The Trouble with Mics...

T-University

(a preface, I am a novice, a rookie you could say at the world of AV equipment, but in the past year and a half I've learned a lot and felt like sharing something that happened this yesterday morning)

So there is a little problem with wireless microphones these days, it's called lack of space!  As I said in my preface I am a rookie at the AV world but it seems when the government sold off the 700 mhz wireless spectrum they also limited the range that wireless microphones could play in.  Thus yesterday was a crazy day.

T-University has been my "other" job for the past year or so and we've been humming along very well the past 3 weeks, no major issues, just minor things.  In fact I hadn't gotten a call from them in the past two weeks.  Compared to whats "normal" this is awesome!

Then came Tuesday, December 2nd, 2010.  The bad day.  The media projection folks came down this fine day to set up and run a web cast town hall meeting and then set up for a very important townhall the next day.  Around 3:30am all heck broke loose and the emails started flying.  "Our mics are not work", "Ken is dropping out", yadda yadda.

Come to find out it was also about that time that the MP team was doing their web cast meeting with their own set of wireless mics, which just happened to be programmed to channels close to ours.   So apparently their mics were over powering out mics.

To avoid this issue we turned off the mics for T-University today because of another web cast event.  Things should back to normal tomorrow.   I believe we are going to have to plan better for future events and work out the channel issue.  Maybe we can get the mics far enough away from each other on the 500 mhx specturm so that this won't happen.

Good Day,
Ryan

WTH???

So I haven't blogged in a long long time!  I'd like to get back into it.  The content would probably change a bit from coding to technology.  Although I do get to do a little coding now and then.  But the question is..  is there anyone out there listening?

Good Day!

Google Group: Symon Digital Signage

I decided to set up a Google Group dedicated to digital signage from Symon Communications tonight.  There are not a lot of resources for out on this technology outside of Symon technical support so I thought I'd try starting up a group.  If you happen to use Symon digital signage or know anyone that does please send them over to this group.

And so it begins!!

Went out to run tonight and tripped over a package on the porch.  Now I just need a case and a harddrive.

Thats a processor, motherboard (with HDMI out), memory and a DVD Burner!

So the DVD ROM didn't come with any CD for drivers, should I be concerned?

Good Day!
Ryan
