Autism Walk for Dylan
Off TopicSome of you may or may not know that I have a little girl, Kaylie, that is 5 years old. For that reason this hits close to home. About a year ago we learned that the son of one of my old friends has autism. Dylan is 5 years old, the same age as Kaylie. You just don't think these things will ever happen to you. After doing some reading I found out that Autisum is fastest growing development disability in the US and that it it effects 1 in every 150 children. Amazing!
At any rate the point of this post is to promote the Autism Walk in Wichita, Kansas on April 12th. Team Dylan has a home page where they are raise funds for the walk. If you are interested please visit the URL below.
Below is little bit more about Dylan from their web site.
Dylan is a "never a dull moment" beautiful 5 yr old boy who is high functioning autistic and has severe ADHD. Dylan was diagnosed with both of these disorders almost a year ago and since then we have been trying to learn and cope with the day to day adventures of raising a child with these disabilities. The good news... he doesn't know any different. He just knows he's loving life and has a large family who love him to no end. That's all you can ask for. As his parents, Kelly Gray and Mandy Gray, we would like to thank our team walkers: John, Debra, Josh, Nathan, Skyler and Madison Gray, and also Uncle Dave Gray. Additionally, we would like to thank everyone else who has supported and helped us through everything. Finally we would like to thank all those who donate and support this great cause. There aren't enough dollars and resources out there for this growing and broad disorder and with everyones help we can make a difference for the families that are affected by autism in this community. Thanks again and God bless.
