I Made a Difference!
The WebEarlier in the week I told you about ITookThisOnMyPhone.com. It's a cool application for your cell phone with web site that could use some work on the backend. What it does is transfers any pictures you take with you phone to the web site automatically.
This week I sent an email off to their technical support team about some issues I was having with the site:
Just wanted to make you aware of a couple issues with your site. Both
issues seem to appear when the GPS information is present on a photo in
IE 7.0.1. When you are posting tags on a photo the Ajax code used to refresh
the tag area errors out and does not refresh. There is a JavaScript
error. The tags do get posted but you have to manually refresh the page2. When adding a title to a picture the title area never refreshes, it
just gets stuck on "saving...". The title does get added, but you have
to refresh the page manually to see the new title.Again both of these issues happen in IE7 only when the GPS information
is present.Thanks,
Ryan
Today I recieved a reply:

From Your Phone to the Web
The WebHave you heard about the website ITookThisOnMyPhone.com? It's a website hosts pictures taken from you camera phone. At the heart of the site is an application that you download to your Windows Mobile or Blackberry device. The application then send any pictures you take to your personal ITookThisOnMyPhone.com site. My site is http://www.itookthisonmyphone.com/rme8494. I have to say that the web site is not the greatest but the application itself is pretty cool. There are plenty of options for uploading including:
- Always ask before uploading
- Delete after sending
- Send GPS information (gps enabled phone required)
- You can also label you pictures before you send them up
Once the picture is up on the site you can add a label and description. You can also see where the phone was taken using the GPS information gathered from the phone and Google Maps. Next you can tag the photos and put them into albums as well. Like I said the site needs some work but the technology is neat.
Here is what I'd like to see from the web site
- Comment notification when someone comments on your photo
- The ability to havae friends, they have a contacts area but no way to add one
- RSS feeds
- A new look, it's pretty dated
Also of note make sure you have an unlimited data plan before downloading the application and sending photos.

GrandCentral
The WebHave you all heard of GrandCentral? Working for the phone company I feel a little dirty posting this but man this is pretty cool! GrandCentral (now owned by Google) gives you a new phone number which can be forwarded to any other phone number you have.
Wow.. that doesn't sound as cool as it is. Think of it this way. You sign up for a GrandCentral account and get a new phone number. During the set up process it asks you what your other phone numbers are; home, work and cell. When someone calls your GrandCentral number it can ring ALL of your existing number (home, work and cell). So no matter where you are at you never miss a call.
This new number could be your number for life almost, not matter if you move, get a new job or change your cell phone number people only have to remember that one GrandCentral number.
There are some neat features too when you answer a call to your GrandCentral number too. When you pick up it tells you who is calling (the other party is asked for his or her name). Once you hear who is calling you have 4 options.
1) Accept Call
2) Push Call to Voicemail
3) Push Call to Voicemail and Listen (you can listen to the message as they leave it)
4) Accept call and record! (You can record a call)
One of the many cool features on the web site gives you access to all you voicemails. You can even download them and email them to other people. You can also change your inbound ring tone. So people don't have to listing to Ring Ring, they can listen to any .mp3 file you upload! There are also some other cool features of the site that I won't continue to ramble on.
This seems like a really cool service that the phone companies should have. I can see this being a main feature component to the upcoming cell phone operating system from Google.
Good Day!

iGoogle Themes
The WebI was surfing the web tonight and found that Google has released their API for creating your very own them for your iGoogle home page. By the looks of things they've already got a lot of new themes out ther for the choosing.
I also noticed that you can now select a different theme for each of your tabs. I didn't realize this before and I'm not sure when they added it but I'm pretty sure it was not the case.
Do you use iGoogle? If so which theme do you use? I have the theme with the racoons on it at the moment.
Goog Day!

YellowPages.com
The WebHas anyone visited yellowpages.com lately? My oh my they've done a lot of work to it. Check it out when you get a chance. They have a contest running right now for those people who write a review on businesses they visit. If you register at the site and write a review you get to play a scratch off game for a chance to win a $200 gift card. Up to 3 a day I believe.
The site is very 2.0 now with big buttons, fonts and the black and yellow colors. Mapping is done by Microsoft Live Maps which are very very similar to Google Maps, surprise surprise. there is also a mobile version of the site, but seeing as I don't have a very big media plan on my cell phone I think I'll stay away from that.
So far all of my searches have been pretty good. Let me know what you think!
Good Day!
Ryan
