So part of my job at AT&T is to reasearch new technology and evaluate if we feel it would fit well within the company. Since this "research" often involves getting new hardware and software to play with we thought we'd start an CNETTV type web site for internal use. So far we have about 13 videos created. The site goes live around June 23rd, wish me luck.

Next Generation MacBook with Dock

The folks over at Gizmodo posted a blog entry today detailing what could be the next generation MacBook and dock. The coolness here is that the doc vertical not horizontal like traditional docks!!! Think about it this way, sliding you MacBook INTO your iMac.... can you dig???

Career Change

Well as some of you have probably noticed I have been absent from the blogging scene for a while. And when I say "some of you" I am just hoping that someone has my blog added to their feed reader or possibly on their Google home page.

At any rate I suppose it is time to explain my absence. On August 1^st of this year I accepted a new position within AT&T working for the Evolving Technologies Organization. Isn’t that just the best name for a team ever? As you may be able to imagine by the name this team researches, evaluates and in some cases develops new technologies for the company. Hardware or software this team does it all. It is very exciting.

With this change in career I suppose it’s only appropriate to change the content of my blog. I hope to get back to blogging more often but now more on the new technologies we are looking into. This is not to say I won’t be doing any more code, no sir! I am currently working a project with my brother that I’m very excited about and that should be released soon.

Challenge Accepted!

I’ve been called a lot of mean things in my life some to my face and surely more behind my back. However the other day I got called a name by a guy I don’t even know! This guy, Todd, if that is his real name, called me a lurker!!! A lurker??!! How can you call me a lurker if you don’t even know me Todd??

Well Todd didn’t just call me a lurker he called A LOT of ColdFusion developers lurkers or takers. We can define lurkers or takers in this case as developers that take code from blogs or other community sites but don’t give back to the community. For whatever reason, either they are too busy or too lazy they just don’t give back. Therefor Todd proposed a challenge. The challenge was for us all to get more involved in the ColdFusion Community, write a blog, join a CFUG or mailing list. Do something to give back.

Well Todd, challenge accepted! I’m going to try my best to make time to give back. What I say here on my InstantSpot may seem silly to those more experienced than I, so for that I apologize and welcome all feedback.
