My Portfolio
Hello and welcome to my InstantSpot web site located at ev.instantspot.com.  The purpose of this site is two fold.  The first is to let you know a little more about me and the work I do.  The second is because I have to!  This page is being created as an assignment for my Technology and Innovations class at American Military University.  This is my sixth class on my way to getting my Master degree in Information Technology.  So without further a due please browse away to learn more about me!

My name is Ryan Everhart and I was born in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in the spring of 2000 with a bachelor degree in Business Administration.  It would have been a bachelor degree in Management Information Systems had I waited ONE more year to join the program, same classes different words on the diploma.

I started my career after college with a company that I started working with during college, NetVision Technologies (NVT).  A small company located in Wichita, Kansas, NetVision offered many web design, web site hosting and ISP services.  Back then dial-up was king and DSL and cable modems were cutting edge technology.  It was during my time at NVT that I learned how to program web sites and databases.  I started designing web sites with FrontPage but quickly graduated to writing the code by hand using what was then Allaire Homesite.  I also used Adobe PhotoShop for graphic creation.

A year and a half after graduating from college and working at NVT full time I landed an interview at Ameritech in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.( For a quick funny video on Ameritech and the history of Ma Bell check out this video.)  While at Ameritech/SBC/AT&T I created internal web applications for the Network Services organization.   I designed sites using ColdFusion and MS SQL Server

After working with the Network Services Organization for 2 and 1/2 years my wife and I got the itch to be closer to family and we moved to Dallas, Texas where I got a job within SBC/AT&T with the Customer Billing Operations (CBO) organization within IT. Within the CBO organization I continued to create web applications using ColdFusion and MS SQL Server.

After another 2 years I left the CBO organization for an exciting new opportunity within AT&T with the Evolving Technologies Organization (eTech), still in Dallas.  Coming onto the eTech team opened up a whole new world of possibilities.  I am no longer designing web applications as a full time job rather I am investigating new technologies and evaluating them for use within the company.  To see some of the cool stuff I am working on click here for my blog.

Thats about it on my career thus far.  As I mentioned before I am pursuing my Master's degree.  I live in a suburb of Dallas and have a wonderful wife and two beautiful girls.  Click on the links above and to the right to view my electronic portfolio.
